Urban WanderingThis weeks challenge was to find letters in objects or things around you, and have them spell a word that they relate to. With my Pathfinder group, we took a trip downtown, getting to certain checkpoints only using paper maps, and we were to stay at a hostel overnight. I thought this trip would be a great opportunity for me to get photos of the city, and complete this challenge. I had a really fun time and, although it was very hard, I managed to get all the letters I needed. I named this photo 'Urban Wandering' because I took all these photos that spell out "Vancouver" while exploring and wandering around the city. I think some of these photos could have had much better quality, as I had to take some of them on my phone, which does not have the best camera. I also wish the lighting was better for the "C" and the "r". I am really proud of the fist "v" because I think the bikes also really represent Vancouver, and the lighting in that photo is nice. Overall I had a really fun time taking this challenge and it allowed me to explore the city around me in a unique way.

Tiny CrystalsI took this photo on one of the last days that snow still covered the ground where I live. This week's challenge was difficult because there was only snow for a few days, but I still managed to take all the photos I needed. I took this picture outside my school in the morning. The ice was beginning to melt on the leaf but it was still very cold. I named this picture 'tiny crystals' because of the little crystals of snow visible on the edge of the leaf. I like how the colour of the bright leaf contrasts with the dark and dull background, I also like how just the leaf, the subject of the photo, is the only part in focus. I think it is obvious that I needed to use flash in the photo, and I don't really like how bright it is. I think this photo fit in well with the 'Jack Frost' challenge because you can see the little bits of snow and ice that had fallen onto, or formed in the leaf. |
