StanleyThis week I discovered how you can do more than just see a photo, but feel it too. For the texture challenge, I thought it would be a good idea to get a picture of my cat's fur. I named the photo 'Stanley' because this is a picture of the beautiful coat my cat Stanley has. I really like this picture because it has a lot of detail, you can see the change of colour in his fur and the different spots and stripes that he has.The purpose of this photo challenge was to really show off the subject and its texture, you should be able to know what it would be like to feel the photo just by looking at it. I think I achieved that "feeling with your eyes" in this photo, the detail allows each little hair to stand out and you can see the smoothness of his fur.

Destination UnknownThis week's photo challenge was fun, I loved looking at my photos and seeing the lines lead away from the picture, as if it was taking me somewhere. I took this photo while driving back from the park at mud bay, near Colebrook Road. I wanted a picture of the railroad tracks as I thought they would fit this photo challenge. I named this photo 'Destination Unknown' because of the way the tracks seem to guide your eyes away, into the unknown. Overall I think this is a really nice photo and for sure one of my favourites. There are somethings in the photo that bother me, like how the tracks are not centred, but I do really like the way the grey sky contrasts with the colours of the grass, bushes and rocks, I think it makes the photo stand out. I really like how the tracks just lead into the horizon, and the curve of the tracks really add a nice touch. Between the BranchesThis week's photo challenge was definitely difficult. I decided for this photo I would't stick to the traditional "bird's eye" view, instead I wanted a picture that showed the perspective a bird saw things at while not flying or looking down. I took this picture in the watershed with my friend, I took many beautiful photos in there but this one was my favourites. I named this photo 'Between the Branches' because of how the photo is looking between the leaves of the tree. I like how the photo focuses on the branch that is leading away into the picture, I think it really grabs the attention of the viewer. At the bottom right of the photo there is a leaf that is out of focus and I don't really like it, but I do think it helps make the photo seam more "real" and it does look like what a bird might see. I really like how all the colours are very earth toned like green, brown and orange, it makes the photo more appealing. SuspenseThis week I struggled with thinking of original and creative ideas for the photo challenge, but I finally took a good "scary" photo. I changed the exposure and highlights and added a black and white filter to this photo, and I am glad I did because it gives the photo a scarier feel. I named this photo 'suspense' because of the unknown in the photo. All the unanswered questions and the mysterious look really bring the photo to life. I really like the lighting in this photo, how it is focused on the main view-point, the hand holding the knife, and how the light fades into darkness around the ends. The photo does look grainy and could be a bit more in focus, though. I really like the mysterious feel you get when you look at the photo. |
