hands upThis week I challenged myself to learn even more about the camera and its settings, as for this photo challenge, I had to really play with the settings to capture the shadow in the photo. This photo was taken in the studio in the photography class, I was running out of ideas of where to find shadow outside, so I decided to use a white sheet and the studio lights to my advantage. With my friend Bernice as my hand model, we took lots of pictures. The pictures were simple, it was just some hands creating a shadow against a sheet, but the result turned out a lot more dramatic than I expected. I edited the black point and exposure in this photo, to make the shadows more dramatic and I also made the photo black and white. I am glad I took away the colour from this photo because it really brings out the darkness of the shadow. If I could retake this photo I would take it from another angle, although I like the angle it is at, I would have liked to have seen a different perspective of the photo. I decided to call this photo 'hands up' because the way the hands are in the air resembles the way people position their hands when they are asked to put their hand up.
