Emptiness This photo challenge was a learning experience for me, as I have never taken portraits before. This is a photo of my friend Jessica, we were having a lot of fun while eating dinner outside and decided to use each other as models for this challenge. The evening sun was perfect lighting for this challenge as it gave a soft look to the photos while still allowing for dramatic shadows. We had a lot of fun taking photos of each other, and because we're friends it allowed us to both feel comfortable. I really like how the black and white looks on this photo, it is very dramatic and really shows the subject rather than the busy background. I named this photo 'emptiness' because she does not really look like she is showing much emotion, but at the same time she looks almost sad, so (with the help of my model) I thought empty would be a good way to describe this emotion. I don't think I would change this photo if I had the opportunity to,everything about it looks natural and real, which was the object of this challenge, to capture real emotion.
